The legal system in the USA

The legal system in the USA is certainly not terrible, but there are quite a few things wrong with it. For one, it’s incredibly costly. A person cannot effectively represent themselves in any action worth more than a few dollars because the complexities of the legal system prevent them from knowing how to do so. This high cost and complexity leads to a system of coercion where the rich and powerful can intimidate the less powerful into doing what they want outside of the courtroom simply because they have lawyers on retainer, while the average working Joe doesn’t. The threat of legal action is so powerful that many people simply cave in to injustice simply because they cannot afford to represent themselves and risk losing, or, perhaps equally terrible, winning but going broke to do so.
